Company history

Fortuna was founded in 2005. Initially, focused on silver opportunities in Latin America, today Fortuna is a seasoned, mid-tier precious metals producer continuing to grow its portfolio in premier mining regions.

2005

Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. established

Shares trade on TSX Venture Exchange, under the trading symbol FVI (TSXV: FVI)

Acquired the Caylloma silver-lead-zinc Mine located in Arequipa, Peru

2006

Re-initiated production at Caylloma Mine

Acquired 76% stake in the San Jose silver-gold Project located in Oaxaca, Mexico

2009

Acquired 100% interest in San Jose Project

Received Environmental Impact Authorization approval and construction permits to build the San Jose Mine

2010

Shares begin trading on TSX, under the trading symbol FVI (TSE: FVI)

Positive pre-feasibility study reported for the San Jose Mine

Started construction on the San Jose Mine

2011

Shares begin trading on NYSE, under the trading symbol FSM (NYSE: FSM)

San Jose Mine declared commercial production at 1,000 tpd

2012

Started San Jose Mine expansion to 1,800 tpd

2013

Acquired Taviche Oeste concession, San Jose Mine

Commissioned San Jose Mine expansion to 1,800 tpd

Trinidad North high-grade silver-gold discovery at the Taviche Oeste concession, San Jose Mine

2014

San Jose Mine expanded to 2,000 tpd

2015

Started Caylloma Mine processing plant optimization

Started San Jose Mine expansion to 3,000 tpd

2016

Caylloma Mine processing plant throughput increased to 1,430 tpd

San Jose Mine expanded to 3,000 tpd

Acquired the Lindero Gold Project in Salta, Argentina

2017

Started construction on the Lindero Project; an 18,750 tpd owner-operated open pit gold mine

2018

Fortuna publishes its first sustainability report

2020

10th year anniversary on the TSX

The Lindero Mine pours first gold pour in October

2021

10th year anniversary on the NYSE

Expanded into West Africa by acquiring the Yaramoko Mine in Burkina Faso, and the advanced Séguéla Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire

Started construction on the Séguéla Project; a 3,750 tpd open pit gold mine

2023

The Séguéla Mine pours first gold in May

Strengthened presence in West Africa; acquired the Diamba Sud Gold Project in Senegal
